12. Lucky Me! Artificial Chicken Flavour

It took a lot of effort to get this tiny packet of noodles delivered to me here. But that’s why it’s a blessing to have supportive friends in Dubai! Lucky me indeed!

Thank you Suri and Punica!

Lucky Me! is the undisputed no. 1 instant noodle brand in the Philippines with a wide array of innovative and flavorful noodle varieties (according to their website). Launched in 1989, Lucky Me! has since grown into a household brand enjoyed by almost every Filipino family.

This packet is already losing points for being so freaking small! Just 55g against the standard 70-80g packs.

Cooking instructions as on the packet –

  1. Cook noodles in 2 cups of briskly boiling water for 3 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and add seasoning. Serve while hot

Compared to the quantity of noodles, there is a lot of seasoning in here. Also it smells yummy. I always get excited for noodles in simple chicken broth because firstly they make for a superbly comforting meal by itself and secondly there is so much scope to experiment when you are not in the mood for the simple stuff. #winwinsituation

Good chicken flavored broth and the noodles have a nice chew to them. On the whole I found the dish bland and salty. I was initially thinking of cooking this in about 1 ½ cups of water but then I stuck to the cooking instructions and I am glad about that.

Lesser water would have made it even more saltier. At least now I had the scope to improvise! So I quickly added some pan fried chicken ham and Sriracha sauce.

My boyfriend was very happy with the final dish! Yay!

I am forced to rate the original dish only 2.5 out of 5 because of the quantity of the noodles and the extra saltiness of the broth.

Rating: 2.5/5
