I love pork in almost any form (FYI bacon is my favorite). I ate unhealthy amounts of it while roaming the streets of Bangkok and today I am going to have pork flavored instant noodles from Bangkok!! YAY!
This seems to be standard MAMA stuff manufactured in Thailand. I don’t remember the exact prices of these now, but most were under 10 Baht which is roughly Rs 20/-. Consistent with prices of instant noodles available here in India.
Cooking directions on the pack are in Thai, but here is what you have to do-
- Place the noodles and condiments in a bowl. Add boiling water 1 ½ cups (350ml).
- Cover the bowl for 3 minutes.
- Stir gently until completely dissolved, ready to serve.
Hate damaged noodle blocks. But this has travelled far and long so I’m going cut some slack and not cry about it.
The soup base a mixture of spices, shallot, garlic, pepper and pork powder. And some chili powder as well. Will this much chili be enough?
The seasoning oil is a good looking dark liquid. I like. And it has such a yummy aroma!
As expected, the noodles have a good chew to them and they have hydrated really well, typical MAMA stuff. The broth is spicy and flavorful. It turns out that, that much chili powder was sufficient.
Duh! I added some bacon chunks to it and drizzled some bacon fat as well. It improves the dish ten folds! This makes an excellent breakfast for me.
Pro tip: buy bacon chunks instead of strips. The chucks have more fat (I reuse bacon fat to fry other things), remain juicy for a longer period of time and lastly they are non-messy and super easy to eat with chopsticks along with your noodles!
Loved the broth! Reheated it and slurped away to glory.
The seasoning powder, chili powder and the seasoning oil blend perfectly to create this yummy broth. Its flavorful with just the right amount of spice to it. And not to forget, it has a really good pork flavor as well.
